Futures Trading Carries Substantial Risk

Trading futures contracts is highly leveraged and involves substantial risk of loss. Leverage can work against you as well as for you. A relatively small market movement will have a proportionally larger impact on the funds you have deposited as margin. You may sustain a total loss of initial margin and any additional funds deposited to maintain your position, and losses can exceed your account balance.

You Can Lose More Than Your Deposit

Unlike simple stock purchases, futures positions can produce losses exceeding the funds you deposit. You may be required to deposit additional funds on short notice. If you fail to do so, your position may be liquidated at a loss and you will be liable for any resulting deficit.

Day Trading Is Extremely High Risk

The SEC, CFTC, and FINRA have all published consumer warnings noting that the majority of day traders lose money. Success rates are low. You should not trade with money you cannot afford to lose entirely.

CFTC Rule 4.41(b) — Hypothetical Performance Disclaimer

HYPOTHETICAL OR SIMULATED PERFORMANCE RESULTS HAVE CERTAIN INHERENT LIMITATIONS. UNLIKE AN ACTUAL PERFORMANCE RECORD, SIMULATED RESULTS DO NOT REPRESENT ACTUAL TRADING. ALSO, SINCE THE TRADES HAVE NOT BEEN EXECUTED, THE RESULTS MAY HAVE UNDER- OR OVER-COMPENSATED FOR THE IMPACT, IF ANY, OF CERTAIN MARKET FACTORS, SUCH AS LACK OF LIQUIDITY. SIMULATED TRADING PROGRAMS IN GENERAL ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DESIGNED WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT. NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFIT OR LOSSES SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN.

This disclaimer applies to all hypothetical, simulated, and backtested results shown anywhere in our curriculum or marketing materials — including results from prop firm evaluation accounts and funded accounts that operate on simulated execution platforms.

Prop Firm Accounts May Be Simulated

Many prop firm evaluation and funded accounts execute on simulated platforms rather than live exchange order flow, even when real payouts are issued. Results obtained in these environments may not translate to live-money trading due to differences in fill quality, slippage, and emotional conditions. See our Prop Firm Disclosure.

You Are Responsible for Your Trading Decisions
